Center for a Free Cuba. January 12, 2024. Washington DC. The Castro regime's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement backing the genocide charge against Israel presented by South Africa to the International Court of Justice on January 11, 2024. Cuban president Miguel Diaz-Canel and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez both Tweeted out the statement with their own added commentary.

This fits a pattern that is over fifty years old, and is a false narrative that originates in Soviet-era anti-Israel propaganda together with efforts to destroy Israel through wars of aggression.

On October 7, 2023 Hamas terrorists killed 1,200 Israelis, wounding over 3,360, and launching over 6,300 rockets. Hamas raiders entered Israel, murdering, raping, and kidnapping civilians. In a formal statement released that same day, the Cuban Foreign Ministry blamed Israel and its “accomplice,” the U.S., for the violence. This was before Israel responded to the terrorist attack against its citizens.

Cuban officials met over 2023 with high-ranking officials from Iran and Hamas. Havana has shared intelligence with Hamas for decades, and permitted Hezbollah to establish a base in Cuba.

This was done fifty years after Havana, Pyongyang, and much of the Arab Middle East attempted to wipe Israel off the map.

On September 10, 1973, Castro broke diplomatic relations with Israel. Less than a month later on October 6, 1973 forces from Egypt and Syria, as well as expeditionary forces from Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Jordan, Iraq, Libya, Kuwait, Tunisia, Morocco, North Korea, and Cuba attacked Israel in a surprise invasion. 3,000 Cuban soldiers took part in the war of extermination against Israel, but lost and Israel prevailed, and thrived.

Their enemies would continue to spread horrendous and anti-Semitic lies about the Jewish people..

Fidel Castro compared Israel to Nazi Germany on October 15, 1979 in a speech before the United Nations General Assembly. The Cuban dictator lied, but the numbers do not. There is no equivalence between what was done to the Jewish people by the Nazis, and the relationship between Israel and the Palestinian people.

In 1933 there were 9.5 million Jewish people living in Europe. Following the Nazi holocaust, the Jewish population in Europe in 1950 was reduced to 3.5 million. The world Jewish population in 1939 was 16,728,000, and in 1945 it had shrunk to 11,000,000.

Palestinians and the Castro dictatorship for decades have accused, and continue to accuse, Israel of "ethnic cleansing" and "genocide".

In 1948 there were 1.4 million Palestinians living in what is today, Israel, Gaza, and the West Bank. Today there are 7 million Palestinians living there, and 7.05 million living in the diaspora.

The Palestinian population under 75 years of Israeli "occupation" has grown five fold, and the total world population has grown. This is the antithesis of what happened to Jewish people during the Nazi regime both in Europe, and worldwide.

"The genocide charge echoed by Havana against Israel is a blood libel, and particularly perverse considering what the Jewish people have suffered over the millennia around the world," stated John Suarez, executive director of the Center for a Free Cuba.
